IMHS Volunteer Drive in Progress- Join Our Team!

Hi Everyone-

We have 8 new volunteer positions we are hiring for, some with very flexible schedules available! Help animals and acquire valuable non-profit work experience by giving a couple of hours a week in service to IMHS animals.

Below are just a handful of the many volunteer opportunities we're currently recruiting for. We'd welcome you to join our team!

Associate Groomer ***New position!***

Position Summary: Volunteer groomers are needed to provide grooming care for kittens, cats and/or puppies and dogs as directed, to include basic grooming duties such as brush-outs, clipper trims, nail trims, and bathing or dipping animals. Shift times are flexible and typically 1 – 2 hours in duration between the hours of 9am – 3.30pm.

Canine Enrichment Associate ***New position!***

Position Summary: Flexible shift hours, anytime between the hours of 9am - 3pm, any week day. The Canine Enrichment Associate focuses on elevating the quality of life for shelter dogs by helping to develop and implement our enrichment program. Duties include coordinating and overseeing doggie playgroups among resident shelter dogs, interacting one-on-one with dogs off-leash in the IMHS play yard by playing fetch, brushing dogs, and just focusing on giving each dog love and individual attention.

Feline Enrichment Associate ***New position!***

Position Summary: Flexible shift hours, anytime between the hours of 9am - 3pm, any week day. The Feline Enrichment Associate focuses on elevating the quality of life of shelter cats by helping to develop and implement our enrichment program. Duties include researching special "clever" toys designed to enhance the lives of cats and working with the shelter management team to acquire donated toys; passing out catnip, toys and kitty treats to shelter cats as directed, interacting one-on-one with shelter felines in the IMHS cages or approved indoor and/or outdoor enclosed play areas; brushing cats, and focusing on giving each cat/kitten love, socialization and individual attention.

Animal Care Associate, A.M. shift ***New position!***
Position Summary: Volunteers sought to work a 3-hour shift between 7-10am or 8 – 11am, helping with general shelter cleaning and animal care duties to prep the shelter for opening. Duties may include taking dogs to the outdoor runs/play yard, feeding, medicating animals as directed, assisting with laundry and dishes, wiping down the tarps over the kennel and cat room cages, sweeping/mopping, restocking shelter supplies, acting as support staff in cleaning of the kennel and/or cat adoption areas. We have openings in this position most days of the week!

Animal Care Associate, P.M. shift ***New position!***
URGENT NEED TO FILL
Position Summary: The ACA for the pm shift is needed in the afternoon for a 2-hour shift, ranging between 3pm - 5.30pm. Duties may generally include bringing dogs in from the outdoor kennels, feeding, passing out treats, scooping litter pans, assisting with laundry and dishes, medicating as directed, spot cleaning of cages, and scooping the outdoor runs.

Offsite Animal Care Associate ***New position!***
URGENT NEED TO FILL
Position Summary: - Flexible hours. Shifts will typically last about 1 -2 hours in duration, and duties may be performed between 9am - 8pm when offsite stores are open. Duties to include cleaning and animal care at offsite locations where IMHS cats reside until adopted, at the direction of IMHS management and directly supervised by offsite partner staff; communication with the IMHS Shelter Manager about animal welfare issues and alerting to when animals are adopted; transport of adoption paperwork and animals, as needed, to/from IMHS and offsite location.

Retail Associate, Second Chance Thrift Shop

Position Summary: Volunteers sought to assist with sales and merchandising in the IMHS Second Chance Thrift Shop. Duties may include cleaning donated items, sorting and displaying items for sale; staffing the cash register; promoting IMHS programs, services, and adoptable animals; light animal care duties for resident Shop cats available for adoption.
