June “National Adopt A Shelter Cat” Month Celebrated at IMHS
Reduced Adoption Fees For Adult Cats

As millions of homeless kittens enter shelters nationwide, the Intermountain Humane Society (IMHS) is setting a goal for ‘National Adopt A Shelter Cat” month of averaging at least one adult cat adoption on each of the 30 days in June and has reduced feline adoption fees to help reach that objective.

“National Adopt A Shelter Cat month was created decades ago during June’s ‘kitten season’ to call attention to the wonderful adult cats who are spending their days in shelters instead of lifetime homes,” said Marta Anderson, IMHS Shelter Director, “IMHS and every other shelter in the country is inundated with homeless kittens every spring and those adorable little ones divert attention from the adults who are real hidden gems so we hope that reduced fees will direct some love their way.”

The adoption fee for adult cats at the shelter have been cut in half, to $35 for cats who are 5 months to 5 years, and to just $20 for cats 6 yrs and up. Every IMHS cat is spayed or neutered, given age-appropriate vaccines, de-wormed, tested for feline leukemia/FIV, micro-chipped, and comes with a free vet visit and a cardboard carrier. IMHS is also offering low-cost spay-neuter information to curb the impact of future “kitten seasons” which add to the cat overpopulation tragedy.

The Shelter is now open seven days a week, from 11 am to 4 pm daily but with evening hours on Wednesday when the shelter is open from 11 am to 7 pm. Loveable IMHS felines are also available for adoption 7 days/week at the following offsite locations:
PETSMART Stores (3 metro Denver locations)
160 Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood; 8500 W. Crestline Ave, Littleton; 8222 S. University Blvd, Centennial

PetCo Stores (2 metro Denver locations)
8100 W. Crestline Ave, Littleton; 9425 E. Countyline Rd, Englewood

The Intermountain Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization that receives no government funding and relies on donations and community support to serve its mission. IMHS is located at 67318 US Hwy 285 S in Pine Junction.
