TITLE:
IMHS Clinic Associate

MAJOR OBJECTIVE: Provide essential support to the IMHS medical by working in the clinic to help ensure optimal efficiency during operations.

DUTIES:
-Assist shelter staff and/or clients with animal check-in (a.m. shift) and/or discharge (p.m. shift)
-Clean clinic and surgical instruments; sterilize surgical equipment using the autoclave
-Cut and fold surgical drapes
-Prepare surgery instrument packs
-Assist with patient care as directed
-Assist IMHS medical team and shelter management with other assignments or projects as necessary

TRAINING/REQUIREMENTS:
-Attend a Volunteer Orientation
-Complete a Volunteer Agreement
-Working interview initially, then train on-the-job with the IMHS medical team

COMMITMENT: Clinic operates each weekend. A minimum commitment of 3 hours per shift, twice monthly, is asked. Available shifts are Saturday and Sunday, typically between the hours of 8am – 4pm.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE: Dependable, energetic individual who has meticulous attention to detail, good judgment and a deep sense of compassion for animals. Ability to work well with others and follow directions. Comfortable during high stress periods of medical emergency and able to withstand a moderate degree of morbidity. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. with assistance helpful, but not required. Must have genuine concern for the welfare of animals and be willing to adhere to the policies and philosophies of IMHS. Position suitable for adults and mature youth aged 15 or older.
