IMHS Second Chance Thrift Shop Celebrates Three Years of Serving Homeless Animals
The all-volunteer Second Chance Thrift Shop is celebrating three years of operation this November, recognizing a steady increase in sales each year that corresponds with increased programs for animals by Intermountain Humane Society (IMHS).
The shop's "birthday" is being celebrated with a One-Day Anniversary Sale and Party, and the entire community is invited to attend. Every item in the shop will be marked down to 1/2 off. Party snacks will be served throughout the day as supplies last.
“Shoppers know that they can find real value in the new and gently used items at the Second Chance Thrift Shop,” stated Marta Anderson, IMHS Shelter Director, “But the value of the labor of love performed by the dedicated volunteers who run the shop and raise much-needed funds to give a second chance to homeless animals is priceless!”
Sales proceeds collected in the highly acclaimed thrift shop are directed to programs that help our mountain community’s homeless animals and the IMHS collaboration to increase the live-release rate of Colorado animal shelters. Approximately 1/5th of the IMHS shelter’s operational budget is supported by the shop’s proceeds. The shop specializes in housewares, women's and men's fashions, sporting gear, books, pet care items, toys, home decor, and children's things. Weekly specials are advertised on local web sites (pinecam.com and 285Bound.com)
True to the mission of IMHS to help homeless animals, the thrift shop doubles as an offsite adoption location for cats and is the temporary home to currently available cats Cleo (7 yrs black Domestic Short Hair ) and senior icon Geanie (8 yrs young Domestic Short Hair grey tabby). The shop team of 12 dedicated volunteers includes Darrel Bennett, Manager, and Natalie Noll, Assistant Manager.
“We receive new product donations every week, and hope some kind people in our community will join our volunteer family and help make the year ahead a record for sales and saving animals,” said Anderson.
