Special-needs dogs seeking a patient, adult-only home:

Hi Everyone-

We have had 2 little wirehaired dachshunds, Hoss and Scamp, in our care since February. These 1-yr old brothers came to us extremely under-socialized--they are very fearful and snappy until they get to know their caretaker, and then they're happy as larks.
File Attachment:

Hoss and Scamp are not particularly bonded and do NOT need to go to a home together, and in their case, it may be preferable for them to be separated and each go to homes with a more confident, well-adjusted dog who can help "role model" behavior for them. Together, they seem to feed off each other's fears. They like other dogs and do well with cats.
File Attachment:

These boys each require an adult-only, low-stress household with someone who is patient, kind, and understanding of their psychological needs. It took them about 7 - 10 days to bond closely with their foster mom, and we believe in a new environment it will take about that same period of time for them to become more at ease, and show the sweet, lively side to their personalities.
File Attachment:

Please...if you know of someone who is able to work with a frightened, under-socialized little dog and willing to adopt, IMHS will offer a greatly reduced adoption fee in order to get them into the right environment. They have been homeless for too long, and foster mom (bless her!) is unable to adopt. They need permanent homes, soon.

Thank you so much for viewing this post and spreading the word!
