No those missed easy shots was not about talent. I was being precise about what i was saying. They do not heart in the playoffs. the JR mouth debacle proved it this week.
I'm not fond of JR either. I'll give them another chance and see if they can rise to the occasion. It's been rather disappointing so far. They've had their chances.
What is interesting so far are the more competitive other series. Many thought that the Nug-Thunder series was going to be highly competitive and the others not. In some ways it, the Nug-Thunder series, has, except for the final score. That said, there are some very interesting and unex
pected competitive series ongoing.
A professional does not let your fear get in the way. As soon as they have one mishap they fall apart and that tells me it is a coaching issue. I like Karl to a point but as an all around motivator on and off the court he just does not have it. He does this every time. It is sort of like watching Schottenheimer. He always changed his game plan in the playoffs. You change what has been working for you when you really need it? The league is stupid too. They are fine with having it all be about a few teams. Boring as hell for the fans. I just don't care when it is all about egos.
You know what sport I really admire? The x game sports. They love it when someone pushes themselves to a new height. It is not about competing against anything except a limitation and they admire each other. It is a culture and so is Basketball. NFL is not as much a culture. IMO. Baseball is but not usually egotistical. And sorry Hockey is about teams not individuals too.
If you ask me Basketball is about individual and not team and THAT is your problem.
Wow- good comments. Altho a marvelous athletic talent, JR is a head case, not mentally tough, which is very akin to " no heart". One of the great lessons of sports is what happens when adversity strikes in all it's forms. How do people react? Fold or get going? That is applicable in all phases of life.
Also, I have mentioned it before, but where is the consistency in the refereeing? I watched part of an Eastern Conference game with the Knicks and the refs swallowed their whistles. Here, you just never know if a ticky tack foul is gonna be called or not.
Having Affaflo and Mosgov for the whole series would have helped, but I'm nor sure the outcome would be much different.
Too much dribbling and not enough passing and movement. Asked to put it away at the charity stripe and they barely made it. One in the bag. At least it is one better than NY:( Interesting too to watch the Thunder players make lots of subtle contact that does not get called.
