Colorado Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez was still scheduled to make what could be his final start for Colorado on Saturday night.
But he might be traded before he makes it to the mound, according to executives of two teams who have spoken to the Rockies.
The Rockies remained in active negotiations with several clubs late Saturday, and one of them -- the Cleveland Indians -- scratched their top pitching prospect, left-hander Drew Pomeranz, from his start Saturday for Double-A Akron.
Pomeranz was described by one of those executives as being the centerpiece of a possible trade with Cleveland that has gathered steam in recent days. However, the Indians aren't the only club in the running for Jimenez.
The Cincinnati Reds have continued to express interest, according to a club that has been in contact with them. And the Red Sox and Rockies have exchanged ideas throughout the weekend, sources said.
An executive of one club said he was told the chances of Jimenez being traded before Sunday's 4 p.m. ET trading deadline were "50-50." But the same executive said it was still possible that the trade could happen quickly enough that Jimenez wouldn't reach the mound to make his start in San Diego on Saturday.
The Colorado Rockies website is reporting that Ubaldo Jimenez has been traded to Cleveland for four prospects.

I liked Jimenez but he never lived up to his potential and then with the injuries and his last couple of seasons I guess it's time to move on, that's just a part of the game. It would suck to see him really improve after leaving the Rockies but most of that is really up to him as a player.

Actually reading up on the prospects, 2 of the 3 pitchers could be excellent starters in a year or so and the 3rd has had some great years too in the minors. 2 of them have over 1 strikeout per inning and very low ERAs. And the first baseman has some great pop in his bat. Could be a 25-30 home run hitter. SO all in all for one player who just gave up 4 runs in an inning tonight and had a record of 6-9 with an ERA over 4.34, I think we came out pretty good!
