Lloyd wanted out...and better to get something for him now than nothing for him later. He's a free agent after this season. We still have at least 3 good receivers.

But there are a lot of teams that need a good starting reciever. I can't believe they couldn't have at least gotten a third rounder for him. 6th round is a throw away pick. And listen to the interview. He didn't want to leave, he just wanted a contract extention they couldn't agree upon.
Totally agree with that assessment. I can not see this as a good deal for the Broncos. And then there is Eddie Royal who is alleged wants to be traded. Something is going on inside the organization that we do not know about. You don't think there is a set up for tanking the rest of the season?
I didnt see that interview. I agree a 6th round pick doesnt seem like enough. I had heard Lloyd asked for a trade. Maybe this is a case of he thought he could get a better contract by asking for a trade, and the Broncos wouldn't play that game.
At 4 and 1 I think the head office of the Broncos recognizes that this is a season for rebuilding the team, revamping the offense, and actively seeking new, young talent. Unless the Broncos can rack up 11 wins between now and the end of the regular season, AND I HOPE THEY DO, this season will be mediocre at best and the 2013 Broncos will be a much better team if everything stays on course. IMHO, of course...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Both Lloyd and Royal requested trades - they're both in the final year of their contracts and probably thought they could get good deals (and possibly there is something going on within the team, maybe even beyond Fox's run-happy offense). The Broncos are obviously entering a rebuilding phase, as otis said, looking to get as many first round picks as they can, and will be trading for positions like crazy come draft time so whatever they get now for a trade isn't that critical - it's not locked in by any means.
I have no idea what kind of talent is expected at this year's draft to even begin speculating as to what they're planning on going for - anyone else have thoughts on that?

Huh? So if they got a 1st round pick or a bag of chips it isn't critical?
Noooo, it doesn't matter whether it's the 6th pick, or the 5th pick, or the 20th pick that they get for these receivers - what will matter is who's projected to be picked when, and by whom, and the flurry of trades that always occur on Draft Day between teams jockeying to get who they want.
