Viking, nice. You are a hypocrite. You just 'bashed' (yeah, said it that way for a reason) 285b on facebook. Then Sharon and I both went on there to highlight that we actually took his comments about this site and asked our members if we were confusing them. Guess what he did? He deleted both the comments.

SC, I don't know about you but that was enough evidence for me. Viking you pulled a Pinecam. Members you tell us what you want from us on this issue and we will listen. I am really disgusted right now.

Wow Viking, I never thought I would have said this, but I am so disappointed in how you act and treat people. You ARE way to serious and maybe you just won't be happy anywhere. I think you comments are rude and if you don't like it here then you should go somewhere else (although I don't know if a place exists that would be good enough for you) or go start your own site. Thank you JMC, CG, and SC for this great site and keep up the good work!

Edited to add: Feel free to merge my post anywhere you need to. It's not that big a deal. And thanks for being NOTHING like Pinecam! I have never seen you treat ANYONE unfairly here and you put up with way more cr*p than I've ever seen any other sites do.

I think you are talking about merging posts. Seems like you are doing it fine most of the time, and it is probably more work for you all.

1. I would only merge topics that are "substantially identical", not merely similar.

2. Merging sometimes makes it hard to find the thread later.

3. ....Because Posters do a poor job of naming a thread sometimes, not much you can do about that. Duplicate threads get started because someone missed the poorly named thread. IMO
Maybe add a parentheses to title..... (merged w/ VL's BS thread on more BS) for example.

Example: There is a thread called "Just so you all know" .... gives no clue what it is about.

This is not a hot button issue for me but since CG put it terms of community input for betterment of the site I will weigh in.
I understand why some threads get a ring split from forum x. That makes sense. Unless there is some kind of bandwidth/server issue merging threads is counter productive. It has happened to me and I do not like it.

A "big issue" can be talked about from several tangents. IMO merging tangents confuses rather than simplifies the OP's intent.

That said it is not a big deal, Viking get a grip or sober up.

I simply do not get it. I hear that merging threads is not enthusiastically embraced, but It really does not bother me one bit. It's happened to me. Let's face it. Most threads do not limit themselves to the topic anyway, but go off on tangents. So merging threads on Tebow (as an example) is like gong off on a tangent and that give an opportunity to discuss more than one thing without going to alternative threads. We all have our quirks. Some resist or dislike merging of threads, other simply go with the flow. There really are much more important things in life that thread organization on a message board.

Just so you know my threads are merged all the time because I accidentally posted something that someone else already did. I don't understand the burying threads argument.
