I hope his family can find some sort of peace, somehow.

Goodness, I hate to say this but I couldn't agree with you more!!!!! My sympathies lie with the kids that were raped, their families, and the families of those who were embarrassed and disgraced by their fathers.

It is ok to agree with me on occasion. Have a good evening.

History is full of people with a less than stellar moral fiber, but who were able to accomplish great things (Think Columbus).

He did great things for football and not so great things for humanity.

RIP? Do I wish him to rest in peace? I don't think so. I wish him the same "peace" that all of the victims have experienced in their lives.

I am not defending or agreeing just reporting.

"I didn't know exactly how to handle it and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was," Paterno told the Post. "So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did. It didn't work out that way."

I'm not directing this to you CG, but directed to his quote..............BULLSH**!!!!!!!

This is the good 'ol boy crud at its worst. He may have "mentioned" it to someone at the University, but when it was clear that no action was taken he SHOULD HAVE told the police even if it was an anonymous call. This was his friend. He protected him, the University, the program, etc. Let's not kid ourselves here either, it also protected HIM so it wouldn't tarnish his name by having someone who worked for him doing these unspeakable things. It was illegal! Does it really matter what the University's procedure was? I don't think so. No matter what a great guy he was otherwise, he had A MORAL obligation (and I think a legal one) to make sure the police knew and he wouldn't be in the position (at least while University) to do this to anymore children. I can't even imagine how I would feel if one of those kids was mine. EVERY SINGLE PERSON who knew and did nothing is in the wrong IMHO.

They are holding a moment of silence for Coach Paterno. Isn't that the same mistake Jopa made?
I can understand not wanting to sully your program's reputation, but maybe Joe just tried to rationalize it away saying the evidence was hearsay,
