RIP Joe. You did much for young people and unfortunately your friend turned out to be your worst enemy. Your fight is over now,

I've long believed that people continue to live when there is a will to fight. I think Joe's passing so soon after his disgraceful exit broke hisheart and will.

Frankly, I believe it will change. While his lack of a more active role is deplorable, he spent decades doing good. Ultimately the good prevails, or so I'd like to think.

I will, most probably, not live long enough to know what his lasting legacy might be. Maybe you are right that his life's work will overshaddow.

One can only hope. We all make mistakes and Joe made his in not being more proactive. It just seems that one mistake should not negate a lifetime of positive achievement. If it does, it is a sorry state of affairs.

Joe believed he would die soon once he stopped coaching. Looks like he was right, some 70 days after losing his job. Vanity,? Just like the church not wanting to sully the program?

He carried a secret for decades, he did not take action, ever. While, for decades, more young boys were raped. His legacy is what it is.

I hope his family can find some sort of peace, somehow.

Yes, he did so much for young people? Like the young people (boys) his friend raped? Great way to stand up (and protect) those innocents who can't stand up for and protect themselves. Not saying he didn't do good things too, but come on.......he should have gone to the police when nothing was done and there wouldn't have been more victims. His friend turned out to be his worst enemy? No Franz. His lack of morality and doing the right thing was his worst enemy. He has to own that himself. If he has passed then he won't have to live with the guilt of basically not doing enough anymore. His broken heart? I'm sure the lives of the boys raped lives have been torn apart. These are children! There was no justification for this to happen ever again after he heard about it. We clearly see this differently and that is ok. I side more with the kids than some adult male who knew better. Morally, they all disgust me.

Goodness, I hate to say this but I couldn't agree with you more!!!!! My sympathies lie with the kids that were raped, their families, and the families of those who were embarrassed and disgraced by their fathers.
