Pro Bowl - It Sucks

I've never gotten into watching the Pro Bowl, it seems such a boring waste of time. Especially ever since they moved it to between the AFC/NFC Championship games and the Super Bowl, it's even worse b/c the players from the Super Bowl teams can't participate. I know why they did it, but it's not the right solution - the game itself needs to be changed, not when it is. So with that in mind, and after kicking around some ideas with some friends, we've come up with some suggestions:

• Make it a 2-hand touch or flag football skirmish. Forget the pads and just have fun! Hell, let the cheerleaders participate too! :thumbsup:
• Mike the players, all of 'em. I wanna hear them cracking inappropriate jokes, talkin' trash, harassing each other about their crappy teams or nightmare coaches, or trying to get the opponents to leave their teams and join theirs!
• Let them Tweet during the entire game from the sideline.
• Toss in some spiked Gatorade on the sidelines and see who gets sloppy first!

What do you suggest? Get creative - I'm gonna send this to ESPN and the NFL Network when we're done!

It would be better if the pro bowl happened two weeks after the super bowl, that way all players that deserve to be there could be (assuming they are healthy enough). I had the game on tonight while I was doing my beginning of the year administriva for work.

Yes it was obvious that the players where going at half speed and the rules prevented any dangerous play. The officials were very relaxed too - not that I was expecting anything different. Even so, there where some fun plays and it was interesting to see how the players from the NFC and the AFC performed.

If the pro bowl was changed to be a second super bowl with the best players and standard rules it would be a better game IMHO. Don't forget the players are unionized and new terms for the pro bowl would have to be negotiated with the players union - or participation becomes totally voluntary for each player which kind of defeats the purpose.

Anybody remember the "Wide World of Sports" from the 1970's where they did skills competitions with athletes? I'd like to see that in the pro bowl-lots of great competitions to find out the best at each position.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Like in the intro to that show. Have em all try ski jumping.
