I'd posted about Lauren Hill, a Mount St Joseph basketball player who went to the same high school as my closest cousin, a while back
. She was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and made the most of her remaining time, achieving her dream of playing on a college court and inspiring thousands with her story. In the time she had left, she raised over a million dollars for research to fight pediatric cancers.
Lauren lost her battle with cancer today. She was only 19 years old.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
