NFL players plan to petition for lifetime medical insurance in the next collective bargaining agreement. They would also like Hall of Fame appointments to also include cash rewards. When a player becomes a Hall of Famer at Canton, it is expected that you will bring your family and friends, and sometimes, players and coaches you played with. This is very expensive, and some of the players no longer have the money to do this. (Possibly why Terrel Owens never went to his induction.) Also on Hall of Fame weekend, it is a tradition for older members to show up with their blazers for the festivities. Some Hall of Famers actually sell autographs to help fund the trips and as a source of income. Think the NFL should add cash rewards for a HOF induction? Maybe 500K? One million? Health insurance seems like a no brainer, but would you give it to anyone who played in a NFL regular season game? Only those who play for at least three years? Or anyone who played, even in a exhibition game?
