Despite ratings being down 7% this year, networks and websites like Amazon are paying 75 to 80% more for broadcast rights. Wow. And since payroll is 60% of earnings and the salary cap, expect new contracts to be huge! Have to feel sorry for the players who signed long term deals last year. They will be quite envious of the players getting new deals next year and the years after. They will have to play a 17th game, but expect to see less preseason games, or fewer veterans playing in the preseason. Good to know at least part of the economy is doing well.
