Lately there has been a lot of controversy about NFL players using their helmets as weapons to ram opposing players and literally risking their own necks and paralysis.
Maybe it would be a good idea to make the football helmet less potent? A roller derby, bike, or hockey helmet would do less damage to opposing players and since it offers less protection to the face, it should prevent players to abuse it.
Rugby players do without, why does football need all that armor?
