The record for the longest golf drive has stood unbeaten for 35 years and was achieved with a wooden club, so have three decades of improving golfing technology failed to make an impression?

You would think that drive record would have been broken a long time ago, especially equipment wise, maybe need longer courses?

"He drove the ball with a tailwind of up to 35mph (55kmph) and was at an altitude of well above 2,000m (6,561 feet) above sea level."

I think astronaut Alan Bean may hold the record for the longest drive of a golf ball. But he did it on the moon.

As in all sports the equipment is regulated and developments of golf balls has been static because of it. If it were not for that the record would have been broken long ago.
