Other life in the Universe?

I searched this forum for posts on LIFE IN UNIVERSE and it didn't come up with anything, which surprised me.

Do you think there is other life in the Universe, or it's just us?

I don't think life can transcend galaxial boundaries (a comet, meteorite, or some kicked up piece of rock with life on it). So, if there is other life, it developed on its own.

I'm content just to wonder about other life in this galaxy.

MY POV....I believe it is egotistical to think that WE are the only intelligent (?) species, the universe is vast and multi layered and there is such a void of knowledge just with in our own galaxy. I do believe that "others"
have been observing us. THAT observation could be a positive thing OR negative. I would like to believe that
the "others" are benevolent.....HOWEVER, a Rod Sterling series comes to mind. The title of one of the stories was TO SERVE MAN.
The premise of the storyline was.....aliens come down to earth, meet and greet with our leaders and population. ALL is good...scientists and astro professionals converse with the aliens, one of the scientists
discovers a book in THEIR ''language" and attempts to translate the contents. It appears the "visitors" R
wanting to help mankind....THAT is the "working theory" UNTIL.....the very end of the show. The last
line is an alarmed scientist screaming to his associate....IT IS A COOK BOOK.

I am down with Anthony Brode.

BTW, To serve man was a short story by Damon Knight

.

"I concede there’s a case
To be made for believing that something’s achieving
the conquest of space;

I find it completely convincing
Whenever I hear
That creatures from Venus were recently seen
As a spaceship drew near:

And yet there’s a problem remaining
That baffles me still.
I’m not disagreeing that some super being
Can wander at will

From one universe to another-
But if it be thus why on earth (so to speak)
Should he bother to seek
Any contact with us?

Space: The final frontier
These are the voyages of the Starship, Enterprise
Its 5 year mission
To explore strange new worlds
To seek out new life and new civilizations

To boldly go where no man has gone before

THIS might be a reason for aliens to venture the vast unknown.

I did not know that Rod Serling was NOT the original writer.

That was the golden age of science fiction. Many if not most of his screen plays were based on published SF.

I am going to go with Carl Sagan on this, there is probably life in other parts of the universe but it is very doubtful we will ever meet it.
The distances are just too extreme unless someone figures out how to "warp". So all these little Goldilocks planets will develop on their own and eventually fade away.

Economically, we don't want aliens visiting us. If they can reach our planet, their technology will be so far above ours, that our manufactured products will be limited to "Amish" style quaint knick-knacks.

Aliens: They are still using mRNA in their healthcare! Probably still use leeches too! LOL.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.

Aliens: They haven't even figured out how to travel to other planets in their tiny solar system.
