Shop Local and Pay It Forward!

16 Apr 2020 14:17 #1 by coniferchambercommerce

We are launching a new campaign called PAY IT FORWARD. The campaign will encourage our community to help those in need and say THANK YOU to those working the front lines, all while supporting our local businesses.

Our community has a heart to help those in need and to show our appreciation! Support local businesses and support our community at the same time!

What you can do:
  • Buy a meal at a restaurant for yourself and "DONATE ONE" for someone working the front lines.
  • Buy a gift card from a local retail store and pass it on as a thank you for someone on the front lines.

Ideas:
  • Purchase a gift card from a local store that sells pet supplies and donate it a local animal shelter
  • Purchase a gift card from a local hairstylist, massage therapist, skin care provider, gym/personal trainer or other service provider and pass it on to someone currently working the 'front lines' so they can use it when these providers are able to reopen. Scroll down to a list of these members and go to their website. Many have set up options to purchase the gift cards online while they are temporarily closed.
  • Purchase a gift card from a retail store that is considered 'essential' and open now so the front line worker can use the gift card now. If you are unable to get the gift card to the front line worker, ask the business if they can forward it on for you.
  • Next time you are getting takeout from your favorite local restaurant, let the restaurant know you want to 'donate' a meal to one of our local nonprofit organizations. The restaurant will use all money donated for a week and contact a local nonprofit to set up a time to deliver a prepared meal to the workers.

RESTAURANTS: Collect the donations for one week, then call a local non-profit or medical provider and offer to use that money to bring meals equal to the donated amount.

BUSINESS OWNERS/RETAILERS/SERVICE PROVIDERS: If someone wants to make this purchase here is what you can do: Choose a local non-profit (see list below) or medical provider and pass the gift card on to them.

HOW CAN YOU, as a business, BE INVOLVED?
Can someone purchase a gift card from you online? If so, make sure that link is on your member page at GoConifer.com. CLICK HERE for an example from Mountain Glow Skin Care.

Promote "Pay it Forward" on your web-page, push it out to social media and talk with your customers about the campaign.

At a time when we are all experiencing untold hardship and sorrow, generosity, kindness and compassion is what lifts us up and brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the world to connect and heal through supporting one another. The power to make a positive change in the lives of others is a fundamental value us Coloradoans act on abundantly.

Up above I have posted many worthy organizations who are serving those in our community with honor, dedication, and passion. But there are many more nonprofits who fulfill invaluable functions in our community, picking up that void created by our area being unincorporated, and they depend on donations from supporters like us to accomplish their missions.

If you are in a place that you can help, please consider donating today. You can find a plethora of amazing organizations searching the ColoradoGives.org directory by county, zip code, or organization name. www.coloradogives.org/

Now I hope you will forgive me for I must shamelessly plug on behalf of one of the nonprofits for whom I serve on the Board of Directors, Friends of Staunton State Park. As we've discovered through this crisis, our outdoors are invaluable to our mental and physical health, and the Friends of Staunton State Park have made it our mission to help Preserve, Promote, and Protect one slice of that pristine, untouched wilderness that is the ~4,000 acres of Staunton State Park. We would be deeply grateful for your generosity in becoming a member and helping us continue our efforts to keep maintaining the legacy that Frances H. Staunton requested when she donated her land to the state of Colorado with the expectation of saving it for generations to come. It is our privilege to serve, in some small capacity, that dream.

Thank you!

Shop and Promote Local Businesses!
The Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce remains committed to helping all of our local businesses and the community during this unprecedented time. You can also help, in big ways and small ways.
  • Buy gift cards: Check out our business directory and contact the business by phone or visit their website to see if they offer gift cards.
  • Order Takeout or delivery: We have many restaurants still open! Take a look at our TakeOut TakeOver page for information.
  • Post an online review: Keep our local businesses in the forefront of our community residents. Post a review on the business Facebook page or a local Facebook area group, My Mountain Town or Pinecam.
  • Continue to pay for services: If you have a monthly payment to a gym, house cleaning service or other provider that is not deemed essential, consider still paying them as if you were still using the service.
