Look - I don't really care. This guy has a reasonably good CV. Still, it was about 15 years ago that I watched a private school board go postal over a male teacher candidate, who had a pierced (left) ear.
Can't even begin to list all the biblical references to piercings. I don't see anything questionable, offensive, or anti-biblical about them. Sure, at some point, I suspect you can cross the line - but this guy's simply nowhere near that line.
To add to the humor - his last name happens to be the same word used to describe a certain piece of drug paraphernalia (it's of germanic origin from the upper mid-west).
I listened to the guy talk, the other day. Preaching methods must have changed. There's no pretense of perfection in this guy ---- just a simple, deliberate desire to seek G-d (with an obvious belief that you won't see Him in the mirror).
