On Saturday, July 26th, COFA will host its Kids' Archery Clinic.
Join COFA-Christian Outdoor Fellowship of America at its Kids' Archery Clinic on Saturday, July 26th, at the COFA Green Barn from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The address is 8660 South Fairall Road, Morrison, CO 80465. $10.00 per child - boys and girls ages 6 to 17.
One of the purposes of the Kids' Archery clinic is to get them involved in the outdoors and away from sitting on the couch playing with their electronics. Our kids today, for the most part, have no clue how much fun it can be doing fun things in the outdoors. That's what COFA does so well: it helps families and individuals connect with each other while doing activities like camping, Dutch Oven cooking classes, fishing, ATVing, hunting, hiking, biking, etc.
Jim Morrow is the instructor for all COFA's kids' archery classes. Jim also helps with the CPW hunter education classes, teaching proper handling of firearms on the range and in the field. In this class, you will learn how to improve your shooting skills and learn the basics and history of archery. This class is for the beginner and experienced shooter. If you don't own a bow, COFA will provide bows for the kids to use.
Kids will learn archery skills and techniques on: Proper stance. Line up so your feet are in a line towards the middle of the target. Put the arrow on the arrow rest of the bow. Grip the string. Typically, three fingers are used to hold the string. Draw the bow, aim, and release.
We at COFA get asked, What's a good age for my kids to start archery? If you want to get your child into a program, COFA recommends starting at the age of 8. Why? By the time kids are 8 years old, they usually have enough strength to safely handle a beginner's bow. However, we have bows for kids as young as 5 to 7 years old as well, so bring them!
This will be a hands-on class, kids will learn how to use a bow and have fun with it, apply their newly learned skills to hit an archery target. One of the fun things about this class is the interaction with other kids and parents.bow-03-300x225.jpg
COFA is an All-Volunteer, non-denominational, designated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your tax-deductible suggested donation of $10 goes toward training materials/equipment and is greatly appreciated!
