On Saturday, August 23rd, COFA (Christian Outdoor Fellowship of America) will host its Kids' Gun Safety Clinic and BB Gun Target Shoot.

This is a question for you, parents: would your son or daughter know what to do if they found a gun on the playground? Would they know what to do if they went to a friend's house and that friend showed them one of their parents' handguns or hunting rifles? How do you think they would answer you? Our goal is to prevent children's accidents with firearms. I'm sure you feel the same way, prevention is key to keep our kids safe and know what to do if they are put in a situation with finding a gun on the playground or at a friend's house. This is a fun class for the kids and helps them understand the dangers of firearms. Parents love the class too. Are there guns in your home, and are they secure and kept away from your kids?

COFA will be having its Kids' gun safety clinic and BB gun shoot on Saturday, August 23rd, at the COFA Green Barn from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The address is 8660 S Fairall Rd, Morrison, CO 80465. To register for this class go to the following link: cofausa.org/civicrm/event/register/?id=359&reset=1

In this clinic (this is an NRA Eddie Eagle Gun Safety Class), kids will learn how to handle firearms safely, with parental supervision. They will learn: Do not touch a gun, even if it looks like a toy. If they find a gun, leave the area where the gun is, and tell your parents or an adult right away!

On the firing line, your children will learn the basics of gun safety:

Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
Always point your gun in a safe direction.
Never point your gun at anything you don't intend to shoot.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot.

All of our instructors are HE (Hunter Education) with the CPW (Colorado Parks and Wildlife).

Gun safety rules parents must teach their children. COFA will help prepare you and your children of all ages by reviewing these five rules for gun safety:

Rule #1: Guns are not toys. Explain to your child that a real gun is not a toy and should never be played with.
Rule #2: Guns are dangerous.
Rule #3: Never touch a gun without your parents' permission.
Rule #4: If you see a gun, leave the area immediately.
Rule #5: Be Careful! You don't want to hurt anyone!

COFA will provide the BB guns, so you will not need to bring a gun to class. The class size is limited to 30 students. To register for this class go to the following link: cofausa.org/civicrm/event/register/?id=359&reset=1

COFA is an All-Volunteer, non-denominational, designated 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization. A $10 donation goes toward training materials/equipment and is greatly appreciated! Your tax-deductible suggested donation of $10 per child goes toward training materials/equipment and is greatly appreciated!
