COFA Kids FREE Paper Target Turkey Shoot November 8th

COFA believes in passing on to the next generations our values, skills, and outdoor pastimes. A Turkey Shoot (targets only, no live birds involved) is a great way to do all three at the same time.

Kids ages 8-15 will have an opportunity to use a BB gun on paper targets to win great prizes, including a frozen turkey (must be present to win). Children may arrive with their parents anytime, but no later than 12:15 p.m., to participate in the competition. Other activities include a climbing wall, archery, outdoor education experiences, leather craft making, and more!! Make a day of it!

While watching a movie based on the life story of Sergeant Alvin York, a World War I Congressional Medal of Honor (CMH) recipient, there was a part in the movie where Alvin was participating in a turkey shoot as a young man. The turkey shoot took place in the hills of Tennessee. Several COFA members have seen this movie, and we thought it looked like a great event for our kids. COFA's free Kids' Turkey Shoot is open to boys and girls aged 8 to 15 years. At COFA, we aim to host an event that is both fun for kids and a learning experience for them as well. While the competition is only for those between 8 and 15, kids of any age may participate in the BB gun target shoot as long as they can safely hold and reach the trigger of a BB gun.

The kids will shoot a designated number of BBs at paper targets to see if they can win a frozen turkey. The scorers will add up the total amount of hits near the bullseye to determine the winner. Boys and girls are put into age brackets (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15). A frozen turkey is awarded to the winner of each age category! Four prizes per age group! COFA provides the BB guns so everyone has a fair chance at shooting. We don't allow personal BB guns...just COFA's!

One of the purposes of the Kids' Turkey Shoot is to get them involved in the outdoors and away from sitting on the couch playing with their electronics. Our kids today, for the most part, have no idea how much fun it can be to do things outdoors. That's what COFA does so well: it helps families and individuals connect while engaging in activities like camping, fishing, ATV riding, hunting, hiking, biking, and more. Through COFA's events, such as the Kids' Turkey Shoot, fathers and sons reconnect and build their relationships with each other. The same goes for mothers and daughters; they reconnect as well. COFA's ministry is to get families to develop healthy bonds through outdoor events.
