Wren on my barrel

Today's Scripture
"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
As I look back at the strange events that I have encountered while
Hunting, I certainly can share several stories that have happened to me, some weird, some funny, some even dangerous, and some very moving.
On one such occasion, back on a cold November day during deer season in Wisconsin, I had a heartwarming moment happen to me. I was going through a tough time in my life and wondered if God was hearing my prayers. I poured out my soul to God on that cold morning from a deer blind, I pleaded with Him that I needed to hear from Him.
My pain was so bad that I wanted Jesus with real skin to sit down and talk and listen to me, hear my heartaches, feel my pain, and comfort me. I was talking with Him from a tree stand in an old oak tree about 20 feet up. The sky was overcast, the wind blew, and the flurries began to fall. The tree rocked slightly in the cold wind; it was starting to go through my hunting coat, and it was downright cold. The brown grass below me danced in the patches of snow that dotted the forest floor. The wind could be heard cutting through the leafless treetops above me. I bowed my head in prayer and asked for a sign from God.
As I opened my eyes after praying, I glanced down at my 44 Magnum rifle sitting on my lap, and at the very end of the barrel was a wren! I was shocked!!! It looked at me with its head twitching from left to right. It hopped a little closer towards the scope. I was amazed at the courage of this little bird, and then it hit me: God has been with me all along. I hadn't noticed it at first, but this beautiful creation of God spoke louder than any man could. The surroundings became a living portrait of the one who made all this creation, and the answer to my pleadings that I needed a Jesus with real skin became that of a little wren. This wren began to chirp and carry on. I'm not sure how long he sat on the barrel of my 44 Magnum rifle, but he took off and was on his way through the woods. I sat in awe of God and really started thanking Him for all He has blessed me with. It didn't take long, but I began to feel better and continued to list all that God has done for me in my mind. I certainly had a better perspective on where I fit in God's plan.
When was the last time you went through hard times and said, 'OK, Lord, I am going to give you my problems. Please provide me with direction and let me know what my purpose in life is. I have messed up my life so badly that I can't keep on fixing things myself; I am always getting into trouble. Have you completely committed your problems to God and said, 'Please help me'?
