A few of the things you posted don't quite ring true.... It's probably just a case of failing memories and since I know you, Dimplszzz, weren't around back then...

The Pinecam forums using phpbb2 didn't start until the spring of 2002 (check the member list)...

This thread details the beginnings, where collection boxes would be set up etc and the first date on that thread was late 2003.

Also, CosmicCowboy didn't join Pinecam until early 2003.

I know it sounds good that it got started 'shortly after 9/11/2001' but it was more than 2 years later....

In any case, the thread I linked DOES give some insight into the beginnings of TSAC.

Thanks for bringing up those corrections, Shiloh. TSAC has done, and continues to do good things for the troops.

Incorrect 'revisionist history' does not help the cause, IMO.

I remember Henry, Cosmic Cowboy, Kathi and Meeb being involved in the beginning. I'm sorry if I forgot somebody else.

wow that brings up memories. I believe TSAC started with supporting Thomas, then went to Jesse then Ranger Bob.

kathi, Henry, meeb and Cos were the origins of TSAC before it was a formal group. Once TSAC was formalized the original members were Cos, Crowfeather, DGWhite, Bubbles, Pacamom, Henry, Mylz2go.(in no particular order)

Here's what the front page of Pinecam looked like in November 2002:

I'd forgotten about the Pinecam Gopher email service that Kurt implemented back in 2002:

http://www.pinecam.com/gopher.php (amazingly, it's still online over there, as is the PineBlog: http://pinecam.com/pineblog/ )

Before the PineBlog, Pinecam had Blogger (this goes back to 2000, when I had to explain to people what a "Blog" was, as some made fun of the word because they'd never heard it before)

Thanks Wayne for that link to the blog.....It is updating me on stuff I didn't know about the Black Mountain Fire.....we were out of town when we heard we were being evacuated, we rushed back to evacuate our two cats. (We had to do a lot of fast talking and I shed a few tears before they would let us in to get them) If something like that happened now we would know sooner, and have more information because of these community boards......
