JOY International - Who We Are

Greetings and welcome to the JOY International forum. It is my personal hope that while you are here, you gain a greater understanding of the magnitude and significance of the ministry of JOY. Since 1979 I have had the privilege of traveling the world and ministering to the poorest of the poor. Especially children. I have seen suffering in the worst forms. I saw children living in the streets of places like India and Bangladesh with some close to starvation. I looked into the eyes of child soldiers in Africa (one 12 year old pointing a machine gun to my face). I helped with the rescue of children living in the garbage dumps of Venezuela. I also saw hundreds of orphaned and abandoned babies and children in Russia while also trying to bring a smile to the faces of children who were severely traumatized and lived through the terrorist bombings in Beslan.

I share all this for one reason. With all the tragedy I have seen and all the atrocities I have witnessed against children, what I have come to learn about children who are forced into the child sex trade is (in my eyes) the worst atrocity perpetrated against a child in our world today. Knowing that as I write this there are children as young as 4 years old who are exploited and used for the gratification of depraved men is something that should not be happening in a civilized society and it must be stopped.

It is my sincere hope that you came to our forum to learn what you can do. Yes. There are things you can do to help us in our fight against this evil. Look around our website . Read our blog . Follow us on Facebook and Twitter , and YouTube . If you wish further updates, please sign up for JOY emails . Learn the truth of this horror against children and make a decision to stand with us. Together, we can bring children out of a life of hopelessness and into a life of JOY.

Ministry description
JOY International is devoted to the rescue, restoration, reintegration and prevention of children forced into the child sex trade.

Our Vision (what we see)
JOY International is a global ministry committed to children who are victims of human trafficking for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation.

Our Mission (a description of our work)
JOY International is working to prevent the trafficking of children who are victims of commercial sexual exploitation, while providing those who are rescued a renewed hope and joy for living through Safe Havens that offer physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual restoration.

Child Trafficking Fact Sheet – Also in this section of the website, we’ve provided a downloadable “Child Trafficking Fact Sheet.” It’s a two-page document to give you a few facts to help you understand the issue of child sex trafficking, as well as some quotes and Scripture verses for inspiration, and a few suggestions for things you can do to be part of the solution.

History – We want you to know a little more about our ministry, where we came from, and how we got to where we are today. We hope you will join us soon in the struggle to abolish the evil of child sex trafficking and exploitation from the world!

Meet Dr. Jeff Brodsky – Every movement has a visionary leader. JOY International’s founder is Dr. Jeff Brodsky. We hope you get to meet him face to face soon!

Partnerships – No one can do the work of rescue and restoration of children by themselves. JOY International has found some true allies in this battle. We hope you get to know them as well.

Any thing on this front?

"According to Pakhshan Zangana, an official in The Kurdish Regional Government, women arriving at the jail are given two choices: convert to Islam and be sold off for between $25 and $150, or refuse and be subjected to rape and slow death.
She told The Daily Beast that one girl called her mother from inside the jail and described being raped by dozens of men in the space of just a few hours.
Others have told how some women have given birth inside the jail, only to have the babies taken away hours later, never to see them again. Some of the victims are as young as 14.
Zangana is now trying to raise money to buy the girls back, but without international aid she has been forced to turn to crowd-sourcing, promising people their money back if they help.

Dr. Jeff is out of state again, so I don't think he'll see this anytime soon to reply. I don't recall him ever speaking about efforts in most of the Middle East, but that's not to say that some of the organizations with which he partners don't. I'll ask him next time I see him.

This is heartbreaking to read.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
