After introductions, Chamber President Jim Myers, owner of the Bailey County Store and Sasquatch Outpost Coffee Shop, introduced Father John Auer of St. Mary’s of the Rockies Catholic Church and parishioner Joe Morris who presented Brodsky with a $600 check for Joy International’s work.
Brodksy reported that Joy International has rescued more than 500 child sex slaves since its founding in 1981. “We’re the action group,” Brodsky said. “Our teams are risking their lives to get these girls out ... It’s incredibly dangerous what they are doing.”
Who goes on rescue missions?
“Four of the team members are from the police department in West Munroe, La,” Brodsky said. “Has anyone ever seen “Duck Dynasty?” The Robertson family paid for two of the team members to go on this rescue trip to Brazil.”
What is Joy International’s greatest need now?
“Land along the 285 corridor for a safe village,” Brodsky said. “50 to 500 acres are needed. The greatest need we have is for safe houses in America. There are 200,000 to 300,000 sex slaves in America under the age of 18. It’s not just third world countries. There are less than a dozen facilities and less than 100 beds in the whole nation for child sex slaves that are rescued,” he said.
