Cusp is a non profit watershed protection group that works in the nearly 2 million acre Upper South Platte Watershed. We have been active since 1998. We are the Hayman Fire restoration team and are currently working intensely on The Waldo Fire restoration effort.
For the past 12 years we have been focused most heavily in the southern portion of the watershed. We are making the move to the northern area this year. We do fire mitigation, restoration, post-fire flood prevention as well as education and scientific monitoring- all to help preserve the ecological health of this watershed that supplies 70% of Colorado's drinking, agricultural and industrial water.
We are funded through state and federal grants, as well as private donations. Our charter allows us to work across all fence lines: private and public lands. We are dedicated to support the ecological and economic health of the watershed through the combined efforts of ALL the stakeholders in this area- with an emphasis on community values. We are a non-advocacy group. This allows us to get the work needed done without becoming embroiled in philosophical disputes. We want to preserve the land for all the uses for which it is suited so we support the co-existence of the recreational, personal and industrial uses that are a benefit to everyone.
Currently, we are working on Fuel breaks and defensible space projects in the 285 corridor and will continue to expand so that we can offer all the services that are currently available in the southern portion of the watershed. We're very excited to be available to help in your "neck of the woods"

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
