Proudly serving the mountain community for 70 years! Since 1945, Bootstraps has awarded more than $3.1 million in scholarships and interest-free loans to over 1,100 students!
History of Bootstraps In 1945, a group of civic-minded citizens formed Evergreen Scholarship Association to recognize an outstanding graduating senior from Evergreen High School, then the only high school in the Evergreen-Conifer area. Donations from citizens, the high school PTA, and the Evergreen Women’s Club raised $11,000 in seed money. In the spring of 1946, the association awarded two $150.00 two-year scholarships. The number and amount of scholarships increased as contributions grew, and the organization continued to award scholarships in May of each successive year.
The mission of Bootstraps, Inc. is to help Evergreen and Conifer students to reach their educational dreams. We do this by awarding financial assistance for the purpose of higher education to the students from the area.
Our volunteer board of directors meets regularly to coordinate fundraising and planning efforts, all of which are designed to benefit our local area students. Proceeds generated from these fundraising efforts are distributed to students annually in the form of scholarships or interest free loans. In the spring, the Awards committee evaluates applications and matches available scholarship and loan funds with deserving students. Recipients are selected based on a number of factors including academic achievement, school involvement and community service, but always with an emphasis on financial need. Special circumstances are also weighed on an individual basis.
