Susan Festag and Gary Finley, Volunteers of the Year

From Staunton State Park:

Staunton State Park's volunteer program is extremely important to the successful operation of the park. Staunton has 83 volunteers who work alongside the park's full time and seasonal employees by contributing an incredible amount of assistance every year. In fact, the volunteers contributed a total of 14,045 hours of work in 2016.

Staunton volunteers assist with operating the entry station, invasive weed mitigation, trail construction, trail hosting, raptor and marmot monitoring, small construction, parking management, education outreach, park history, wildflower and plant specialists, track chair coaches and many other areas.

On Saturday February 4th, Park Manager Zach Taylor treated the volunteers to an annual appreciation breakfast. During the event, longtime volunteers Susan Festag and Gary Finley were awarded with the 2016 Park Volunteer of the Year Awards. Congratulations Susan and Gary!
