From Jennifer Trinco, in Evergreen Colorado Neighbors & Friends:
The Mountain Backpack Program has 30 families that will receive a 9 day supply of groceries to help keep them full and focused over the Spring break. You can help by donating a $25 gift card from any local store. This will allow parents to purchase dairy and fresh vegetables for the week. Gift cards are needed by noon on Friday, March 17th, or you can donate on our website. The cards can be dropped off at Tuppers' Team ReMax office or Evergreen Lutheran Church. If you have any questions contact Shelley Harmon at 303-653-2732. Thank you for all you do!
About Us: Welcome to the Mountain Backpack Program, a service project of the Evergreen Rotary and Evergreen Lutheran Church. Our mission is to help children stay full and focused by providing weekend and holiday meals throughout the school year. There are no qualifications or requirements to receive assistance. Enrollment forms are available in the front office at participating elementary schools or you may contact Shelley Harmon (Program Director) by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by phone at 303-653-2732. Only contact information is requested to get started. You are not alone if you are having to make tough choices in order to feed your family. 1 in 7 families in Colorado live with food insecurity. If your family is in need please let us help.
MBP also operates a "food pantry" which is located in the library of Evergreen Middle School. The pantry was established in 2015 to meet the needs of our older students. It is open to ALL students daily to use at their discretion. Students can grab a meal for the day or take home food for the weekend. We encourage students to use the pantry with consideration and to donate back if they have the means.
The Mountain Backpack Program is financed through the Evergreen Rotary Foundation. Contributions to the Evergreen Rotary Foundation c/o Mountain Backpacks are deductible for income tax purposes.
