Friends of Staunton State Park accepted to participate in CO Gives Day!

We're thrilled to announce that we've been accepted to participate in the Colorado Gives Day program by Community First Foundation! They are quite thorough and rigorous on vetting nonprofit applicants and we are honored to have been approved. This will help us raise more funds in order to continue growing and supporting the ground-breaking Staunton Track Chair Accessibility Program, as well as get another program near and dear to our hearts underway: restoration and preservation of the half dozen historic cabins within Staunton State Park. More on that later!

Click here for our Profile Page where you can view photos and videos, read our history, see our financial disclosures, review about our goals, and hopefully decide we're worth a donation! You can donate at anytime during the year, set up a recurring monthly donation, or, after November 1st, schedule a donation for the big fundraising push on CO Gives Day, happening December 10th this year.

Colorado Gives Day features a $1 Million Incentive Fund, created by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, and one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. Every donation made through ColoradoGives.org on Colorado Gives Day is boosted by the fund, which increases the value of every dollar. For example, if a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total donations made on Colorado Gives Day, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund. The more you donate to your favorite nonprofits, the bigger a slice we'll receive of that incentive fund!

We are grateful for all of the support we have received in our six and a half years in existence. This opportunity will allow us to do even more for our beloved park and our park visitors. We thank you for your time, your generous donations, and your passion for the great outdoors and helping each other!

Our next keystone project will be to repair and restore the historic buildings at Staunton State Park. Some are in terrible shape and at risk of significant damage due to weather getting inside as well as animals. An initial bid on just partial work on Staunton Cabin came in at $400,000.

These buildings are our heritage. It's where the Stauntons lived and treated their patients. As part of our mission to "Preserve, Promote, and Protect" Staunton State Park, we've formed a committee and begun reaching out to historic restoration experts and organizations. We'll be applying for grants and assistance from HistoriCorps, among others. Please help us save them from further damage and restore them to their former glory for all to enjoy!

If you'd like to help us with this project, please donate at www.coloradogives.org/FriendsofStauntonStatePark or directly at www.friendsofstauntonstatepark.org/ . Please message us if you'd like to help on our committee. Together we can get this done!
