May 5, 2020: Giving Tuesday Now by Community First Foundation

24 Apr 2020 19:37 #1 by FriendsofStauntonStatePark

From the organization that brings us CO Gives Day, Community First Foundation, and an amazing opportunity for nonprofits to fundraise together, they announce #GivingTuesdayNow - a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

At a time when we are all experiencing untold hardship and sorrow, generosity, kindness and compassion is what lifts us up and brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the world to connect and heal through supporting one another. The power to make a positive change in the lives of others is a fundamental value us Coloradoans act on abundantly.

“I go to nature to be soothed, healed and have my senses put in order.” – John Burroughs

As we've discovered through this crisis, our love of the outdoors, our need to connect with nature to soothe our soul and calm our nerves, is more important than ever. Our mission, "Working in partnership with others to preserve, promote and protect the wildlife, natural beauty and historic legacy of Staunton State Park for present and future generations,” focuses on one small slice of that natural bounty in our beloved mountains, and it's done for our most treasured commodity - all of you who hold Staunton dear to your hearts as we do. And we couldn't do it without you!

There are many in need during these tough times. Please keep us in mind for contributions if you are able, and join us in supporting those most in need in our community by donating to those area nonprofits who provide food, housing, and heating and utilities assistance.

CO Gives provides a safe and secure way to support our Colorado nonprofits in one easy transaction by donating through www.coloradogives.org/ Search for nonprofits by name or zip code, schedule your donations, and know that you are appreciated and cherished beyond measure.

Please stay safe and healthy, keep up that social distancing, and we'll see you on the trails!

Staunton State Park isn’t just a park. It’s the amazing volunteers, staff, visitors, and the glorious Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It’s the legacy of Frances H. Staunton who wanted it preserved in its natural glory for generations to come and to her parents, Drs. Rachel and Archibald Staunton, who homesteaded the land and provided healing for others. It’s a place you can nourish your soul, relax your mind, exercise your body, get back to nature, and ease your stress.

On this Giving Tuesday, please help us support Staunton State Park by donating. Your dollars stay at Staunton and help us fulfill our mission of "Working in partnership with others to preserve, promote, and protect the wildlife, natural beauty and historic legacy of Staunton State Park for present and future generations."

“Nature has the power to heal because it is where we are from, it is where we belong and it belongs to us as an essential part of our health and our survival.” –Nooshin Razani
