Heard It Through The Grapevine October 2021 Newsletter

04 Oct 2021 14:01 #1 by Cellar Master
Dear Winery Friends,

It's our favorite time of the year! With harvest in full swing we are looking forward to a productive time in the cellar. There is a need of restocking our inventory after a successful summer at the winery and the festivals in the parks around the state. Most of our fruit is coming in from Washington and California this year as the Colorado crop was heavily damaged during a freeze end of last October, resulting in very low yields across the Grand Valley. None the less, we are excited to ferment Pinot Gris, Albarino, Rose from Syrah and Riesling from Washington as well as our traditional reds from California. As far as our Vintner's Reserves, the 2019 Colorado Rockin' Rapids, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot (New release this Wine Club weekend) are in stock, while the 2020 vintage is aging nicely in the barrels waiting to be finished and bottled this winter.

Entering the new season and with cooler days ahead, we will also make a few exciting changes to our Lunch Menu. Check it out and stop in to try out our new additions during our bistro hours from Wednesday to Sunday, 11AM-6PM (last call at 5:30PM). The beach season is slowly coming to an end and we will stop crushing bottles during the winter months, we will resume taking on bottles in the spring again. Once the side walls on our heated deck will have to be completely closed, no river side service is going to be provided. However, counter pickup is still available if you like to enjoy outdoor dining, where furry friends are also welcome.

Great news for our sparkling wine enthusiasts! The crisp refreshing Cuvee Rose, $30/bottle, is now on the shelves, offering raspberry and peach aromas as well as grapefruit flavors on the palate. Celebrate any occasion with this pink carbonated wine made of Syrah and other Rhone varietals.

While we released our 2019 CO Petit Verdot during last weekend's wine club dinners, we believe this big, bold red deserves some additional attention and we have scheduled an all Petit Verdot Wine Dinner on Friday, October 22nd, 6:30PM. Each couple will enjoy a bottle of the celebrated wine which is perfectly paired with the culinary creations served in a 4-course meal. While in Bordeaux this varietal has a hard time getting ripe, is mainly used for blending, adding color and tannins to the world class wines from that region. There are some areas in the world, including the Grand Valley in Colorado, which allows this grape to come full circle and produce a fantastic stand alone varietal wine. We are excited to add this "purple monster" to our Vintner's Reserve lineup. With it's deep garnet and hues of purple color, aromas of ripe berries and cedar, flavors of blueberries, baking spice and tobacco, this wine coats your entire palate, well balanced with lingering tannins. It pairs great with any braised or roasted red meats, mushroom, spicy and wild game dishes.

Besides our Rhone River Cruise Info Night, Thursday, 10/7, 6:30PM with FREE wine tasting and food pairing bites, we will also host a Pumpkin Patch organized by the Boys & Girls Club on Saturday, 10/16, 11-3PM, and of course we will continue our Rockin' Rapids Live Music Series with performances by our talented local musicians every Saturday and Sunday from 2-5PM.

As the white stuff starts flying, it is time to start thinking about your snowshoe & fondue outing with your friends from January 7th to March 20th, 2022, we will launch our ticket sales next month.

Have a wonderful month, stay healthy and we are looking forward to seeing you all at the winery soon.

Marcel, Julie and Team APC

Talking about Team APC, we are blessed to have the best of the best on the mountain. A special shout out to our wine festival crews who helped us in our booths all season. While short handed at the bistro most of the summer, just like anyone else on the planet, our hard working crew did the best they could to provide you with the service you expect visiting our winery. We appreciate your patience during the busy hours. We like to take this moment to thank long time employees Kelli and Shelly for all their hard work and wish them all the best at their new places of employment, but still helping us out in a pinch. We are excited to introduce and welcome Sous Chef Kevin (formerly Ocean Prime Steak House) to lead our kitchen team. If you like to join us, we are accepting applications for weekend server (must be 21 or older) as well as full or part time dishwasher positions.
