Heard It Through The Grapevine - September Newsletter

04 Sep 2022 11:43 #1 by Cellar Master
Dear Winery Friends,
Wow, not sure where to begin. There are a lot of things happening this time of the year and we are excited for all of it. So, here we go!

The 2022 grape harvest is in full swing and we are looking forward to our first crush of Colorado grapes in a couple of years. After a visit to Palisade, it appears that we will be about a week or two ahead of normal years and crop is back to roughly 60% after the devastating freeze event in October of 2020, which pretty much eliminated the 2021 crop. We anticipate some Riesling, Cab Franc for Rose, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot from Palisade, Pinot Gris and Albarino, Syrah and Malbec from Columbia Valley, WA as well as some Zinfandel and Sangiovese from Lodi, CA.

Additional news from the cellar include a low stock alert for some of our crowd favorites, like Pinot Gris, Conifer Red and Mocha Zinsation, however we are excited to release the Columbia Valley, WA Malbec by Palisade Winefest.

During the month of September, we will also attend our last two outdoor wine festivals for the season, first at Palmer Lake on the 10th, and then wrapping it up with the mother of all wine festivals in Palisade on the 17th (sold out). September 11th-18th it is also deemed as Colorado Wine Week, where many wineries are offering additional events. We are pleased to announce that our Rockin' Rapids and Riesling will be featured at one of our favorite restaurants, 240 Union, A Creative Grille in Lakewood during that week. Reservations are recommended, please mention you are there for Colorado Wine Week. The following Wednesday, 9/21, our wines have been selected to pair with the Cook Street Culinary School Colorado Harvest Dinner.

As far as upcoming winery events, on September 3rd, we will welcome the Floodgate Operators from Crested Butte to the stage for an evening of fast paced Bluegrass & BBQ (sold out). Tickets for our fall Wine Club Dinners are now available to reserve. They will be held on Friday, October 7th, live music by Curbside Pkup and Saturday, October 8th, live music by Good Music Medicine, both 6:30-9:00PM. No ongoing membership is required to join us for the wine club dinners. Just sign up each quarter as you please. It is the best deal anywhere!

Mark your calendars, we will host the Rocky Mountain Jazz Rebellion for another LoBay Jazz & Tapas Night on October 28th. More info and tickets will be announced in the next newsletter.

Thanks to all who responded in our poll last newsletter. We are planning a bus trip to Colorado Wine Country, Palisade, the weekend of October 29th & 30th, 2022. We are excited to show you some of our favorite places, hear from their owners and winemakers, as well as vineyards we are able to contract our grapes from. To learn more about the itinerary of this trip, see flyer below and feel free to contact us or Bill with Cruise Planners-Heart & Soul Excursions 720-364-1023 for more information. Only 30 spots are available for this trip, deadline to book is September 9th, 2022, 5PM.

Wishing you all a fantastic month and we are looking forward seeing you for a relaxing riverside lunch in Bailey soon.

Marcel, Julie and Team APC
