Homemade BBQ Sauce
Its finally here....BBQ season, although for the true BBQ'rs at heart the season never ends! This is a recipe for a thick and rich barbecue sauce with the flavors of honey and molasses and lots of wonderful spices to kick up your food's flavor a notch. Perfect for chicken, ribs, pork or anything else you like to put BBQ sauce on.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup water
3 1/2 Tablespoons honey or agave nectar
1 Tablespoon molasses
2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 1/4 teaspoons The Bean & The Leaf Ancho Chili Powder
1/4 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf Korintje Cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons The Bean & The Leaf Cumin
1 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf Smoked Sweet Paprika
1/2 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf Toasted Onion Powder
3/4 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf California Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf Garlic Pepper
1 1/4 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf Dried Mustard Powder
1/8 teaspoon The Bean & The Leaf Organic Cayenne pepper

Instructions:
Mix all spices in a small bowl and set aside.
In a small sauce pan, combine the tomato paste, water, honey, molasses, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well. Add the spices and stir until incorporated. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cook over low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If you would prefer a thinner sauce, add an additional 2-3 Tablespoons of water.
Makes about one pint. Serve and Enjoy!
