POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Director of Operations
Foothills Animal Shelter is seeking a Director of Operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional shelter manager to join a growing, mission-driven, organization.
Located in a new, 33,000 square foot facility in Golden, Colorado, Foothills Animal Shelter is one of the largest shelters in the state, handling over 10,000 animals a year. The Shelter provides lost and found, adoptions, spay/neuter, vaccines and other pet owner and animal welfare services. The Shelter also partners with and serves as the receiving center for the Animal Control Officers of Jefferson County and the municipalities located within the County.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years experience in shelter operations, expertise in animal handling and management, skills at protocol and procedures development, and a desire to implement best and promising practices in shelter care. Experience in managing staff, volunteers, programs and services is a must. Experience in report writing, record keeping, data entry and analysis, budget development and management is also required. This is a highly visible leadership position in a highly visible organization. Therefore, the Director of Operations needs to display excellent communication, organizing, team building, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree at a minimum. Candidates who do not possess a degree but who do have at least five years experience in a professional, upper management, shelter position will be considered.
