The fire district has two openings currently; one for Firefighter/Paramedic, and one for Lieutenant. This application will also serve as a hiring list for future openings. The fire district has applied for SAFER funding for two additional positions. All candidates must have a current, valid CPAT card prior to any job offer.
The general responsibilities of this position include; responding to fire alarms, hazmat and other emergency calls to protect life and property; extinguishing structure and wildland fires; driving emergency apparatus; performing automobile and rope rescues, and providing emergency medical care to the sick or injured.

Elk Creek Fire Protection District covers Aspen Park, Conifer and Pine Junction Colorado. The fire district responds to 1100 calls per year in an area of mixed residential, commercial and recreational properties. Calls include 60% EMS and 40% fire. The district has a focus on wildland fire due to the WUI risk, and provides opportunities for out of district mobilization.

The fire district currently staffs one company officer and one Firefighter/Paramedic per shift. Shifts are 48 hours on/96 hours off. All employees may be subject to a one hour call back, and must reside within 45 minute travel time to Elk Creek Fire Station 1 within 6 months of hire.

Salary Range is $38,850 to $49,584 for Firefighter/Paramedic, $43,475 to $55,486 for Lieutenant/EMT, and $45,649 to $58,261 for Lieutenant/Paramedic.

Minimum Qualifications – Firefighter/Paramedic
1. One year or more full time or volunteer experience as a firefighter/paramedic.
2. Experience in structural firefighting, emergency medical services, wildland firefighting, fire prevention and rescue.
3. Certification as Firefighter I or equivalent.
4. Certification as Colorado Paramedic, or current certification as NREMT-P.
5. Ability to possess and maintain a State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
6. Current NWCG red card certification as Firefighter, Type 2 or higher.
7. Meet annual physical fitness requirements as established by the District.
8. Ability to possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver’s license within six months of hire.

Minimum Qualifications – Lieutenant
1. Two years or more full time experience as a firefighter/EMT, or 5 years volunteer experience.
2. Experience in structural firefighting, emergency medical services, wildland firefighting, fire prevention and rescue.
3. Certification as Firefighter II or equivalent.
4. Ability to possess and maintain a valid Colorado EMT-B certification within six months of hire.
5. Ability to possess and maintain a State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
6. Current NWCG red card certification as Firefighter, Type 2 or higher.
7. Meet annual physical fitness requirements as established by the District.
8. Ability to possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver’s license within six months of hire.
