A fast-paced, well established Colorado lumber & hardware company is looking for an enthusiastic, professional Purchasing Manager/Buyer to join our sales team. Position open in either Pine Junction or Castle Rock.
Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for purchasing lumber, hardware, building materials, & other related goods for multiple locations. The ideal candidate provides strong product knowledge in the LBM field, purchasing experience, and excellent computer skills.
Primary Duties
Fulfill day-to-day purchase orders for Special Orders
Review reports for replenishment of Stock items
Communicate with Sales, Dispatch, and Management to prioritize and cost effectively manage inbound shipments
Identify patterns of Special Orders which present Stocking opportunities
Work with vendors to create positive relationships
Stay current with trends in the building industry, and represent company at tradeshows and professional associations
Propose Program opportunities to management
Participate in on-going product and sales training programs
Update individual and Program pricing as required
Preferred Qualifications
Lumber & Building Material Experience, including a working knowledge of LBM vernacular and associated math skills
Ability to forecast product needs based on history, seasonality, market conditions, and sales projections
Experience with commodity products and price fluctuations
Superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid time management and organizational capabilities
A strong work ethic and high level of integrity
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions as they relate to product application
Extensive knowledge of building materials, the construction industry, and government regulations
Experience in reading blueprints
Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Effective problem solving talents
