Over the past few years, I've set up the Christmas tree outside and used it as a bird feeder, hanging suit on it and suit with seeds in it. The cold keeps it fresh throughout the winter. Then in the spring, I simply cut it up for kindling and firewood.
There is a cultural tradition here in the U.S. to kick the tree outside onto the front lawn and let it roll around for a few weeks. Then I guess that it disappears.
It is a weird phenomenon.
