I've been told hiatal hernias can be helped with chiropraty. Is this true?

Hello Chickaree,

I have had several patients with hiatal hernias that I have been able to help. Depending on how bad the hernia is and what the cause is determines the length of relief. A hiatal hernia sometimes presents itself when there is a tear in the diaphragm. The tear allows part of the stomach to slip through and this causes all the symptoms associated with the hiatal hernia. There are several chiropractic treatments that can help reduce the hernia and give the patient relief. The severity of the tear in the diaphragm or the weakness there determines the length of time the correction will last. Sometimes it takes care of it for good, but if its been there awhile it may require surgical intervention.

Hope this helps.
