The ratings gurus at U.S.News and World Report have put some of the nation's most popular diets through the wringer and
crowned as champion
a diet originally developed to help people lower their blood pressure.
Called
DASH
— for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension — the diet is UN&WR's top
all-around pick
. The diet keeps a tight lid on saturated fat and cholesterol. And it emphasizes food rich in protein, fiber and nutrients, such as potassium and calcium, that may lower blood pressure.
A team at the magazine combed the scientific literature and boiled down the pros and cons of 20 diets in standardized profiles. Then a group of 22 experts enlisted by the magazine rated the diets on a scale of 1 to 5 for such things as safety, long-term weight loss and ability to prevent or control diabetes.
When Consumer Reports did its own deep dive on diets last month,
Jenny Craig
came out No. 1. Slim-Fast and Weight Watchers came in second and third, respectively. The low-carb Atkins diet came in last.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Tell me why you keep a tight lid on sat fat and cholesterol?
dietary intake of cholesterol has virtually nothing to do with serum cholesterol.
One of the most healthy fats in the world is coconut, a thoroughly saturated fat.
There was an intentional smear campaign done in the 60's to discredit coconut oil because the makers of trans vegetable fats(Corn, soy rapeseed, canola, etc) wanted to gain market share.
It is absolutely healthy in the right amount for your metabolic type. It is much better for flash frying or sauteeing than olive oil, for instance, which degrades easily with heat.
There is much published evidence for the health benefits of good coconut oil(organic first cold pressed etc.)
