Mount Evans offers bereavement walking group

Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice in Evergreen is offering a free walking support group for bereaved adults on the first and third Mondays of the month, May 5 through August 18. The group meets at 9:30 a.m. at Buchanan Rec Center (off Evergreen Parkway and Hwy. 103), in the parking lot near the art center. The walk returns to Buchanan at about 11:00 a.m.

“All who are bereaved and seeking support are invited to participate,” says Christy McLaughlin, the Mount Evans counselor who oversees the walks. “Grief takes all forms—those who are bereaved can connect with each other while walking together in our community.”

Walkers are reminded to bring water and a snack and to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. “We walk rain or shine,” McLaughlin says, “so think about bringing an umbrella if it looks like rain.” McLaughlin adds that participants are asked not to bring pets.
