How are ya’ hittin’ that little white ball? Still hitting that 210 yard drive? Not that far?
That five iron is still your 130 yard club or are ya’ happy it’s your 150 yard club?
If you’re happy with that, then by all means have fun. Nothing wrong with that.
If you are one of those golfers that really does want to hit it longer, read on.
Yes, “they” tell you to learn how to swing the club right, do this, do that. “They” have you get more flexible and the motions you use while getting flexible and creating your swing are at a slow to moderate pace at best.
You practice pitching and putting. Of course, that takes little effort, but huge concentration and muscle memory.
But what about that drive, or that 5 iron or PW?
Taking into account that you do strike the ball well, but have no distance, what’s the other component? You’ve heard club head speed. But training at a turtle’s pace will not get you there. Train slow, be slow. Train fast, be fast. Sprinters do not run marathons to train and vice versa.
Of course, proper warm ups are always needed when training for an explosive swing.
Have you ever been at that par 5 tee and took a few easy warm up swings, then you addressed the ball and tried to kill it. What happened?
This training technique applies to all sports, men, women, and young adults.
I have trained many golfers to increase their swing speed for a driver from 80 to over 100 mph. Yes, 300 plus yard drives now. You can add more yardage to your clubs.
Hit ‘em straight and hit ‘em far. The off season is the best time to get better.
