PRESS RELEASE
Conifer, CO- The 2nd Annual Health in the Hills Fair will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012; at Conifer Medical Center, 26659 Pleasant Park Rd from 7am-11am.

At Conifer Medical Center we believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. We are hosting our second annual health fair called, “Health in the Hills” in order to help facilitate preventative care, extend our appreciation to the mountain community and an invitation to get to know us, as well as a platform for other health providers in Conifer. Quest Diagnostics has partnered with us to offer very low priced blood tests. These tests can be used to rule out diabetes, check cholesterol levels, screen for metabolic abnormalities and some nutritional deficiencies including vitamin D. We have found that many of our patients have benefited from the 9 News Health Fair, but often have need for follow up labs, and this health fair can help to achieve that. Other services offered will include free blood pressure checks, on-site blood sugar testing, complimentary chair massage, skin exams, Personal Best Fitness trainers, speech and hearing education and more.

The landscape of our economy, our health insurance and our resources to care for ourselves is changing. Many in our community are uninsured or underinsured. We at Conifer Medical Center recognize this, and we are making efforts to reach out to those who would otherwise not take advantage of the proven benefits of preventative medicine. Prioritizing preventative care is even more important when an overnight hospitalization can break the bank. This health fair is part of a larger effort we are making because not having health insurance does not mean that you can’t have a doctor. Controlling blood pressure, diabetes, or treating high cholesterol can be very inexpensive, and one of the best investments that one can make. Even more important than controlling such conditions is recognition of risk factors and preventing chronic conditions through healthy living. Conifer Medical Center would like to partner with you in that endeavor.

People participating in the free blood screening should eat no food, only clear liquids 12 hours prior to blood draw. Diabetics are asked not to fast.
