Wonderful Opportunities for Women
- Interact with other women in business
- Share business resources and ideas
- Promote and market your business
The idea for the WOW group was presented in October 2011 by Jo Ann Colton to several women, including Denise Patrick Fisk who initially declined to be a part of Colton's vision. Colton and Fisk had been members in another (co-ed) business group that failed to thrive for reasons difficult to comprehend. So while each agreed there was need for a women's only networking group in our community, the odds of starting a new group and having it be successful seemed overwhelming.
Eventually, Colton and Fisk worked together to come up with the right group model that would steer members, collectively and individually, to increased levels of success.
The WOW group is still successfully evolving, a testament to the patience and perseverance expended to, and for, the greater good of all WOW members.
WOW is a women's networking group rather than a "leads" group. Leads groups are usually non-competitive and category-specific (one member per industry category). As a networking group, WOW does have multiple members in some business industries, but we try to make a conscious effort not to saturate membership in certain fields, such as real estate, insurance, financial planning, etc so that WOW members can still enjoy business opportunities to expand/grow through membership.
People like to do business with people they know and are more likely to refer others to the business people they know and trust. In this vein, our WOW focus is to meet other businesswomen, spread the word about our respective businesses, and build a rapport with our peers so that ultimately "business will happen."
We meet twice a month alternating between Evergreen and Conifer on the 1st Tuesdays and 3rd Thursdays. Each meeting allows members/guests to give a short pitch and also features a presentation or two from designated members in which they can speak of their business in detail and facilitate a Q&A period from those in attendance.
WOW membership is $48.00 per year, per member paid January of each year. Dues are prorated depending on which quarter of the year you join (example: join during the 2nd quarter, it's $36.00; 3rd quarter, it's $24.00; 4th quarter, it's $12.00). Dues are nonrefundable.
Meeting fees are $5.00 for members, $7.00 for guests. Refreshments and coffee are served, as members volunteer to bring food to share with the group (and your meeting fee is waived if you sign up to bring food). Guests are invited to attend WOW 2 times (not necessarily consecutively) to see what it's all about, membership is required thereafter.
Please RSVP to Jo Ann if you wish to come for food planning purposes and speakers' handout materials.
WOW is an investment of time in which great dividends of new business and increased revenue might be realized!
