Who doesn't love customization? Here are 4 features on Facebook Messenger you can change to make your messages uniquely yours.

There are a few settings that you can change in Messenger to make your conversations a little more fun.

1. Nicknames

To change your nickname or someone else’s, first click on the person’s name at the top of the conversation screen.

Then click on “Nicknames” then you can choose a nickname for you and/or the person you are having a conversation with.

2. Color

To change the color of the conversation, click on the contact screen again. Then click on “Color” then you can choose a color for the conversation.

This will bring you to a screen full of different colors. Just select which one you would like the conversation to be.

3. Emoji

To change the the main conversation emoji, click on the contact screen again. Then click on “Emoji” then you can choose a different main emoji to appear in the bottom right corner of the conversation screen.

4. Secret Conversation

All a “Secret Conversation” does is that it makes it so the conversation can only be viewed from the device you create the secret conversation on. To start a secret conversation, click on the contact screen again. Then select “Secret Conversation”.

This will then send you to a whole new conversation that will be separate from your normal conversation. From there, you can select how long a message can be seen.

Click on the timer button.

Then select how long you would like the message to be seen.

Happy Messengering!

Great question! Thank you for asking!

The secret feature was set up to rival the WhatsApp messenger program, where messages are secret and only available to the people who the messages are directed to. It's been a popular feature with WhatsApp and one that consumers find a lot of comfort in. In the age of technology and the questions about whether our private information is truly safe, one comfort people are finding is the messages sent through this encryption are private.

One way a business could utilize this feature is if you take sensitive information, you know the messages can be set on a time schedule for deletion and that no one else can access the data. With the younger generation, they perform most of their lives on social media. This is one way a business can work with this generation and use the protection that we are used to in other mediums. :)
