Evergreen Colorado Small Business Owners & Entrepreneurs Group

A Facebook group that I help admin, Evergreen Colorado Small Business Owners & Entrepreneurs, has started a monthly Business Book Club this month and we'd like to invite you to join us! It's like any other book club, except that we have a specific focus on business (and personal) growth and development so all books will fit that theme. The goal is to read a new book each month and at the end of the month have a webinar/live online discussion about it and how we will apply it to our businesses.

Our first book is Fortune is in the Failure: What You Say In Business, Matters by Katie Myers, a local author who will be joining us for our discussion of the book! We are really excited she was available and enthusiastic about participating with us. That will happen on June 6th at 10am.

We are looking for book recommendations so if you have one that you've loved that has really helped you, or one that you've been told to read but haven't had a chance to get to it yet, please suggest it! We'll do a poll next week to vote on what to read next. Finance, marketing, business practices, leadership development, managing people - any topic welcome!

Request to join the group here: www.facebook.com/groups/665513803559215/ and be sure to answer the questions - if you can't spend the few seconds to do that, we will assume that you aren't going to spend the time to actually participate in the group and you will not be approved - groups don't thrive with people who simply lurk. You also must live or work in Evergreen or the surrounding mountain areas. There are tons of business and marketing groups out there, but we feel that it's important to keep it to members with ties to our mountain area as we deal with the unique challenges and opportunities that come with working here, and can better help one another.

Our description:

Hi Everyone! Welcome to your local business mastermind group. We're here to share ideas, challenges, resources, etc. that help our businesses grow and thrive.

This group is focused on business-related topics. If you have a workshop, event or great idea for helping people grow their business, support local business and the community, meet a business-related need, or link to a helpful page, etc., please post and share.

This is not a self-promotion/marketing page (except for special promo threads on Friday mornings) - let's keep the content specific and high-quality. There are many other groups that encourage the general promotions and non-business-related topics.

Use these questions to decide if this is a post for this group: Will my post be interesting, informational, helpful to those that are looking to improve their businesses and/or support the local business community? Am I contributing to the people in this group by asking a question or sharing information that will support our business growth?

Please know that admins are volunteers, people passionate about what goes into the equation to help our local businesses thrive. If we have to keep deleting your promo-posts, we will remove you from the group. It's nothing personal - we have limited time, our own businesses to run and lives to live.

Please let me know if you have any questions or other ideas for improving this group. Thanks!

We hope you will consider joining and participating in our group with us, and all of us helping one another thrive and succeed!
Katy, Margaret, Heather, and Sharon

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
