Dry needling treatment was developed in the 1980’s more associated with modern Western medicine where needles are inserted into trigger points or band of muscle tissue that are taught and tender. When the needles are inserted into the trigger points, they cause a response to release the trigger point which allows normal function of the muscle and tissues.
I have had this treatment many times and it's amazing how it causes tight, knotted muscles to instantly relax. I tend to tighten my shoulders when stressed (hunching over a computer all day doesn't help) and get horrible knots from the base of my ear down my neck and along my collar bone to my upper back. There's not really any great stretches you can do to relax those muscles and when it's already knotted, massages hurt (and who has time for that?). Dry needles release that tension immediately and with minimal discomfort (the muscles in the neck are the worst, along the shoulder it just feels great).
I'm glad this is something you offer, I hope anyone in need takes you up on it!
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
