Every year, chimney fires cause hundreds of millions of dollars in damage to homes nationwide. Fire officials say the best way to reduce the fire and carbon monoxide risk is to have chimneys inspected each year.

My next door neighbors ex wife and son had their whole house burn down from a chimney fire.

Ive learned as a homeowner with an old fireplace, it is essential to have your fireplace checked and cleaned regularly; as can be a fire hazard/danger otherwise; be safe than sorry.
